The trend towards a lighter palette of whites, off whites, light grays and creams is still very much alive and well when it comes to wall colour. There are lots of reasons to embrace this aesthetic, lighter colours give the illusion of space and openness , creating a cleaner, contemporary look.

When I am not painting, I have to admit I enjoy shopping. In this post I will look at some Canadian made craft pieces from Smoking Lily that are beautifully made and could be amazing addition to your home!

Smoking Lily is a local company based in Victoria that has a retail shop at 3634 Main Street,, they are well known for distinctively silk-screened women’s fashion but they also have some great home furnishing accessories. Here are some pictures of their beautiful hassocks, made out of leftover bits of material and silk-screened with their signature images.

They also have a great selection of a bunny and heart pillows made which are also made with leftover fabric. I love these playful pieces that would look  amazing on a couch, chair, bed or even a shelf. Great for a kid’s bedroom and more than okay for adult’s too.
Finally, Smoking Lily also sells these beauties from MacAusland Woolen Mills, Bloomfield Prince Edward Island. What can I say! A  wool blanket is hands down 100% better than a synthetic blanket and these pieces will last a life time. Perfect draped over a couch or a chair.  Home decorating is fun, I hope this has provided some good ideas for how to bring some colour and personality into your space.
